      What are Xeomin Injections?

Xeomin is a prescription medication for adults that blocks the release of chemicals that cause muscle contractions that inevitably lead to stubborn wrinkles, like frown lines. Used to restore smooth, more youthful-looking skin, Xeomin Injections are FDA-approved and can be administered only by a medical provider. This incredibly effective injectable contains a unique botulinum toxin type A formula designed to target facial lines and wrinkles by weakening facial muscles without compromising your natural facial expressions.

What conditions do Xeomin Injections treat?

Vertical frown lines that develop between the eyebrows – also known as glabellar or 11 lines – are especially difficult to erase, but Xeomin has been successfully used to treat them, along with other forehead lines, folds and wrinkles. Xeomin can also be injected into other areas of your face, including around your nose, above your lips, at the corners of the mouth or under your eyes.

Xeomin Injections are most commonly used to address the following conditions:

      • Forehead lines
      • Furrowed brows
      • Crow’s feet that form at the outer corners of your eyes
      • Drooping eyelids or eyebrows
      • Smile lines
      • Bunny lines that form on the nose when you smile or squint
      • Marionette lines that form around the mouth and below the chin
      • Any lines between your mouth and nose
      • Vertical forehead lines (glabellar or 11 lines)

Xeomin Injections can also be used to correct medical conditions caused by muscle hyperactivity – like hyperhidrosis affecting hands or underarms.

      How do Xeomin Injections work?

Your Xeomin Injections will be provided in our office. The longevity of your effects and the number of treatments needed will depend on the specific condition being addressed and how long you’ve had the condition.

There are a variety of ways to deliver your personalized treatment for your skincare needs. At One Agora Health, we offer traditional injection techniques that deliver the solution directly into the muscle. During your session, the selected injection site will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, then a small needle will be used to insert the Xeomin formula into your treatment area. The process can be repeated if you have multiple areas that need to be treated.

Are Xeomin Injections right for me?

At your initial consultation, we will take a full medical history and evaluate the other skin rejuvenation options you've tried. Our physicians determine together with you if you would be a good candidate for Xeomin treatment.

If you’ve tried other treatments that have not given you the results you seek, then you probably are a good candidate for Xeomin Injections.

Sometimes patients do not respond to treatment with injectables because of neutralizing antibodies their bodies create. This can result from additives used In the injectable formula – but Xeomin in additive-free to ensure you are less likely to develop antibodies that work against the treatment. In clinical studies, Xeomin patients have demonstrated no secondary lack of treatment response.

      FAQs

      Are Xeomin Injections painful?

Most people experience little to no discomfort.

      Are there any side effects?

We have many patients who experience no side effects at all. You may see some swelling, soreness or redness at the injection site, but these effects are only temporary. Xeomin Injections have minimal side effects, in general. Headaches after treatment are experienced by some, but they generally resolve within four days.

How long does one treatment take?

Treatments generally require 15 to 30 minutes, but your initial consultation may take longer as we will require extra time to complete your medical history.

How long does it take to see results after my treatment?

You may see a difference within four days. Recurring injections may be needed to provide continued results. Results, of course, can vary among individuals.

      How long do results last?

A single injection can bring results that last up to five months.

How long will I need to get Xeomin Injections?

One injection every 4 to 5 months is what’s usually recommended, but your physician can help you determine how often to schedule repeat Xeomin Injections. Even though results can often be seen almost immediately and last for several months, you can continue Xeomin Injections as you need them and are seeing improvement.

      Are Xeomin Injections safe?

Facial injections are less invasive than cosmetic surgery, but they are still not without risk. Xeomin Injections have an excellent safety profile, but if you have certain allergies (e.g., to stainless steel), have hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction, anemia, cancer, or blood clotting disorders, Xeomin Injections may be contraindicated. If you have sores, irritated skin in the treatment area, or open wounds, treatment will be delayed until these skin issues are resolved. Also, if you are pregnant or nursing or taking certain medications, we will also need to delay treatment.

We will discuss all of your safety concerns at our first session before proceeding with treatment.
